Snowmen Competition

It's snowing!

That might mean trouble and delays for most of the country - but we know that Doctor Who fans are a hardy bunch who will be itching to build their very own snowman based on the ones from the Christmas special 'The Snowmen'.

'The Snowmen' Overnight Ratings

The initial overnight ratings show that Doctor Who was watched by 7.6 million viewers which is 34% of the TV wathcing audience. The show was the fifth most popular on Christmas Day. the more accurate consolidated ratings should be available in just over a week.

There cannot be many of us who grew up in the 60s, 70s or 80s unaffected by the work of Gerry Anderson, who sadly died yesterday aged 83.

Daleks In HD

As you may well have heard, Studio Canal has remastered the two 1960s AARU Dalek films into HD, going back to the original film prints to do so. The soundtrack has also received attention.

The films will be available for both theatrical release and home viewing, and a blu ray release has been scheduled for 27th May 2013. However....

New Opening Titles and Theme Arrangement

The BBC has confirmed that a new title sequence and a new arrangement of Ron Grainer's theme will premier on 'The Snowmen' on Christmas Day. This is of course in addition to a new companion, new costume for the Doctor and a new TARDIS interior..

Doctor Who Star Kenneth Kendall Dies

Just a few days after the death of Sir Patrick Moore was announced, another Doctor Who guest star, this time from the 1960s has died. Kenneth Kendall was a well known face as a BBC Newsreader in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s and many children sat impatiently through his news programmes on Saturday evenings awaiting 'Doctor Who'.
