Synopsis
Another example of a DWAS Reference Department publication from the early days of the Society. In their day, these synopsis and the 'STINFO' releases that accompanied them were the closest many fans could get to early Doctor Who stories.
Here, the DWAS's first historian, Jeremy Bentham, covers the first of the two AARU films. In 1977 when this was published, the only chance fans would usually have to catch a viewing would be either an outing on television (on one occasion almost unannounced as it replaced strike hit sports coverage) or a rare screening at a local cinema. By the late 1970s the BBC's rights to the films had expired and it was not until the home video release some years later that the films became available to a wider audience again.
