Press Reaction - The Beast Below
The press reaction to Episode 2 has not involved the DWAS this week, suggesting that we need another 'peak' episode to ignite the interest again. Episode 3 involves Daleks however...
This has been my favourite preview to an episode so far (Liverpool Echo, April 11th 2010):
AND he’s off – in a million different directions (Doctor Who, BBC1, Saturday).
After David Tennant’s hyperactive, over-expressive eyes, we now have Matt Smith’s hyperactive and over-expressive . . . everything.
Perhaps, along with undoubted acting talent, a large number of vitamin pills are required to play the increasingly-energetic and enthusiastic Doc.
All I know is, it’s exhausting to watch.
I’m told by an aficionado – Mrs S may not wear an anorak but she has been known to surf various Doctor Who fan sites – that Smith has got off to a flyer although, personally, I wasn’t impressed by his character’s manners . . . spitting out apples, yoghurts, bacon and beans isn’t nice at any time, but especially teatime.
My problem is that I find it difficult to fully immerse myself in the nonsense – so I just end up annoying people by asking: “Why haven’t we seen Amy Pond’s aunt yet? Where is she?
“And why did Amy the child have a much stronger Scottish accent than Amy the adult?”
Maybe we’ll find out this evening.
