Diminishing Returns?

The average BARB viewing figures for Series 9 were 6.03 million. This is down a hefty 17% from Series 8 which garnered 7.26 million.

What can be read into this? Was the scheduling to blame, with the programme being broadcast so late? Or are the British public starting to fall out of love with Doctor Who? Should we, as fans, be worried, or is this just one of those blips that happens to a long running programme?
